Journal Entry 3

Date: 11.02.2023

Activity:

- Did the bullet tutorial part 1

- Partially wrote the journal

- Did the bullet tutorial part 2

- Now finishing up the journal

Notes:

I went through the first part. It was relatively straightforward until I came to the ScriptableObject nonsense. I don't know if I made a mistake in naming one of the files correctly or not, but I had to write a hack to make things work in the end. It is the most useless and unintuitive thing I've ever had the misfortune of looking at, let alone using it. I'd bet that it would have been 100 times easier to parameterize the existing bullet script and achieve the same result. This part of the tutorial felt forced and it doesn't look like this feature would be useful anywhere else (not that it was useful here ).

The second part was pretty standard so it wasn't as bad as the last bit of the first part. I did the destructible thing and that was it.

Invested hours:

57 minutes on the first part.

2 minutes on partially writing the journal after the first part.

20 minutes on the second part.

5-10 minutes on finalizing the journal.

I don't know if it's intentional or not, but the bullets are facing the opposite direction (going left, facing right and vice versa).
